It was the 25th of December, A day we’ll always remember. That was the day that Momma died, A Christmas the whole family cried. I knew her, but really didn’t know her. Never heard nothing but good things about her. I’m depending on you to tell what’s true. Is it true what they say that Momma use to do? Folks say that Momma would do anything to pay our bills, From selling sex to selling prelude pills. Now Son! Momma was a Rolling Stone. Wherever she lay her head was her home. And when she died, all she left us was alone.
I have questions and don’t know where to begin. Did she have children for you, and children for other men? She practiced the world’s oldest trade. Sometimes, that’s how our living was made. It’s easy to understand what made Momma behave. Survival buried her in an early grave. Is it true what they say Momma use to do? I’ll tell you this, and leave it up to you. Folks don’t know what she was all about. But, her family never had to do without! Now Son! Momma was a Rolling Stone. Wherever she lay her head was her home. And when she died, all she left us was alone.
