Harry Sweeden. My life in verse.

The whirlwind blows yet the world keeps on turning
It matters not of the storms far below
Soon mankind will lay waste to the beauty and glory
And all that’ll remain will be a time long ago.

A time when the sky seemed always blue and so warming
And the trees and the fields a bountiful green
The lakes and the rivers overflowing with new life
The horizon a place that very few had seen.

But mankind’s moved on seeking further horizons
Now that power has since claimed him, thus guiding his dreams
Wars’ have become a means for working out finance
For those that are hungry and those dying in need.

But there was a time when the world was a great place
When the birds in the trees would all gather and sing
When the laughter of children would echo so gently
For the love in our hearts they would surely bring.

Time moves us on and leaves only memories of what has been
When I look in the mirror the years always show
There is never a reflection of all that was wonderful
A time in my memory, a time long ago.
