TO A FRIEND

Go ahead -
you know that you can laugh aloud in front of me
and tell me not the reasons why you smile so heavily

and go ahead -
and cry if you must - I worry not
for all of us at sometimes just need a friend - to trust

go ahead -
and do all the things you'd like to do - without a care
for I'll be there - a word away - a silence we shall share

and go ahead
and love, if love is true -don't turn to see if I am there -
just know my thoughts -
are there with you
