December is nigh, time to light the night sky. Fill the house with colours, up go Santa’s lights. He might land here! Fill the street with Xmas cheer. Design the layout, up and down the ladder Into the boxes. Bring out that dazzle. Brighten the bricks and tiles! Looking forward to the passing kiddies smiles. If you’re real lucky a real Santa will grace the roof tiles, with a wave and Ho ho ho! Drive around the streets, you will be in for treat. A new display here and look over there! Icicles so bright even though Australia will have no snow tonight! A front room nativity scene to melt your feelings. Feel free! Reach for the stars and drag them into your heart. It’s almost Xmas, Look at the holiday lights, the Green and Red what illumination they thread. Around the porch poles and shrubs, even Cocos trees. This year, they have the Blues bulbs and fairy wands. Red Candy canes. Santa sleighs and Stella Stars. Go berserk! Light the night! Colin - January 2006 Vote for this poem
