Of my poems: I have been chastised by the ambiguity of my poems, the religiosity, the triteness, the blatant existentialism, the promotion of agnosticism, and the 3/8 rhymes. That is just what I can remember.
Aaron Copeland wrote: "One starts, after all, with themes or rhythms or harmonies that occur to you." And that is all I write: things the occur to me - ideas, thoughts, images, and fragments tied to each other as part of the greater whole: my poems must be read in the entirety, then judged as a single work, for, if nothing else, an individual poem is merely a signpost along the journey.
