The author at 20 years old in Vietnam.
The author was in the U.S. Air Force from Feb. 1968 - Feb. 1972,
he served one year of duty in Vietnam from Nov. 1968 - Nov. 1969.
He helped maintained Air Force crash-fire and crash-rescue trucks
he also helped the South Vietnamese airman with maintaining their
American supplied crash-fire and crash-rescue trucks. He was also
assigned to extra duty for several months as an augmentee security
policeman with the base security police unit to help the security
police personnel to man the defensive positions around the base at
night guarding the perimeter of their South Vietnamese air base at
Binh-Thuy located down in the Mekong Delta from any enemy attacks
that had been directed on the aircraft & personnel assigned there.
The author was just granted a full compensation pension from the
US Veterans Administration as 100% permanet and totally Disabled
due to his service connected disabilities from heavy exposure to
the herbicide chemical Agent Orange that had been used in Vietnam
to kill off the jungle vegetation that grew around the perimeter
of bases in Vietnam and had allowed the VC to use it for cover as
they tried to sneak up close to the base to attack them. The Agent
Orange has been proven over the years to be responsible for many
diseases and the problems associated to exposure to this deadly
chemical. The author will now receive a service connected pension
for the rest of his life, but even that compensation will never
stop the terrible pain and suffering he has endured for decades.
