Eternal
A command to stand
and watch their fall,
a hold you think is binding.
Something you've long forgotten,
that from which diamonds are made,
black gold under pressure's confining.
Underestimated, the weapon rests
within your gripping arms.
Desperation alludes it's patience
and forgetting the spell's true meaning.
You condemn yourself in hesitation.
Greed and fear, to create it's palace
yet hope withstands it's vigorous pace
with intersecting glimpse of possibilities.
Trapped within yourself,
yourself is all that you have.
Building of walls and cells,
you are your own jailer.
To toss love away, retreating
in the depth of the unforgiven.
How great you could be,
how powerful and loved
if from within yourself
you could rise above.
No trauma or heap of waste
can be leveled with the non-level.
You grab and dig and claw
to steal a heart away,
in dumb founded notion
your salvation is lost
for no flesh can resolve
the soul's devotion.
And so the sorrow's claim is laid
with tears and blood, the same.
For the heart's love prevailed
where the beating of flesh failed.
It was mere forgiveness and love
you should have sought
for eternal youth and life.
