Never coming home By aldo kraas, www.PoetryPoem.com/poet11586 Unlock all Features - Upgrade to Poetry Prime
A child, a perceived infant
plummets from branch to branch gracelessly
and becomes acquainted with the earth.
In a moment of questionable agony,
the girl springs flat onto her sneakers
continuing her game of chase alongside
present companions.
Her mother parks their tired vehicle curbside,
she wears an expression of passive joy.
Sprinting expectantly towards the car,
the door opens from inside, as the
women extends her usual greeting.
As they drove away casually, the silence
was not conceived, she told the girl
her father would never be home again
Time had froze, if only to extend it's sympathy
as she stumbled to relay the concept of death.
Tears rolled down the mothers face,
confusion rolled across the girl's mind,
and curtains roll over the moment.
Never coming home
