Poetic Verses
Mortal Ties
Slow the heart and shallow the breathing
as sight passes from my eyes
And slow I linger at one last greeting
unable to utter last sighs
Lifeless burden, my mortal body lay
One more life at it's bitter end
And finally ceasing the will to stay,
to the spirits my soul I commend
And as I close my eyes to this sleep,
other's hearts continue their beating
While only those who care will weep
or mourn my last moments fleeting
Drifting away, one last conscious thought
I wonder of lives left behind
I hope I've done all that I ought
and, too all, I hope I've been kind
Tomorrow the world will awake with the sun
while I rest entombed forever
And on life goes minus this one
Mortal ties I had to sever

as sight passes from my eyes
And slow I linger at one last greeting
unable to utter last sighs

And finally ceasing the will to stay,

And as I close my eyes to this sleep,
other's hearts continue their beating
While only those who care will weep
or mourn my last moments fleeting
Drifting away, one last conscious thought

and, too all, I hope I've been kind
Tomorrow the world will awake with the sun
