A Broken Heart

                    by Bob Johnson

How dim this light, this flame of love does throw
The flame of love has died, but yet some embers glow
When a love is lost, there is at least one broken heart
Was this a love so true right from the start?
How can a heart be broken, yet a life still live?
Does love just stop, or go, or hide away?
The spoken words, the songs of love, the promises were made
Is all of this etched away on some hard stone some way
Or does it live and grow inside being there alone
Does a new love come and mend the broken way
Or the broken heart mend itself and then just slip away
Maybe true love causes a new heart to be born
To live, to love, to thrive, like a beautiful early morn
Fresh with life and promise, a welcome to behold
Keeping all the promises, the promises of old
When true love finds you waiting for your Angel on the wing
If you listen to your heart you'll hear that Angel sing
She'll be there just for you, take her little hand
Look into her smiling eyes and tell her love is grand
A broken heart is mended, hear the church bells ring
Two lives are now together, Oh hear the Angels sing
