Jester

These streets are blind
full of people crawling
wearing thick painted masks
to hide the shame on their faces
sleeping on small dirty places

They gave up their own voices
to hear the screams on the sidewalk
blood stains on their lips
where vendors and clowns roam free
sell your body for a piece of bread and a cold glass of tea

Come inside for our sale
a great price
I will make you a good deal today
give me your children and wife
for these twenty pieces of gold

Go out and have a good time
forget what you have sold
try your luck at the next table
find another lover on the run
drink your wine

You are free now
start your own life
take the path of shame out of town
stay away from the light
walk in the shadows at night

You are lost to me now
mother Mary
where are you
give me a kiss
please

No
I am cold tonight
your family will keep me warm
Mary Anne
you know all the dry places

Slow down
you are going too fast
Jester
Chester
traitors of time

She was found in the woods
a cold little girl
with a broken doll by her side
pieces of her hair on a rock
a faceless smile on green grass

Right on time
she was found by a man
a homeless vagabond
walking the streets without sun
playing with children in the park
