Pleasant dales

Ravi Panamanna is an Indian English poet. This is his pen name. Real name is Subramanian A. Born at Ottapalam in 1956 in the state of Kerala, India, he had his graduation in Science from Calicut University. After serving his uncle's company for a brief period, he joined State Bank of India in 1981. He is still serving the bank.

During his boyhood days, his world was full of science and scientists. Thomas Alva Edison became his role model among the scientists.

His literary world began with the works of S K Pottekkat and later on spread to other areas that included the works of Victorian poets, Dickens and American writers of early 20th century.

As his reading skill improved, at one point, he began to write. During the early 1980s he began to settle down with his pen. Those were his formative years. Stories, articles, essays, poems, humor - his pen practically covered every field. Everything slept in his many diaries. His natural flair for English language lead him to writing English poetry. On the publication side, he was still far away from success. During the early 1990s, he did a compilation work of his hitherto English poetry that helped him a lot at a later stage when he began his encounter with various poetry sites.

His first encounter was with www.poetry.com. That gave him the real mark of chipping his older poems to finer ones. He became the editor of his own works. In a short time he could lay his hands on other sites with good success. www.poetriesonline.com, www.poemhunter.com, www.allpoetry.com all became his regular playgrounds. All these sites carried his poetry to more glorifying heights that included some of the best comments received for his poems posted at Poem hunter, the Best Poets' Award of 2007 (II Position) and the Best Poets' Award of 2009 (I Position) adjudged by www.poetriesonline.com. In a short time, he had several links available against his name in the Google search page at one shot - 'Ravi Panamanna'.

Side by side, he began posting his articles at www.gzyn.com under his real name Subramanian A. The philosopher in him had led to this movement. The biographer in him had led to these pleasant dales.

Recently, I-Proclaim have published his maiden book ' A timeless echo' comprising of 39 poems.

For him, writing means his very breath. Throughout his career, he has been writing not for any remuneration but for self satisfaction. Writing is his very inner fountain. He points out that a theme is better revealed more in writing than in reading. He views his writing as the strong flow of his subconscious terrain. He takes the stand that his works are only like the seeds that are thrown upon the sands of time. The gestation period is unknown. The fructification period is unknown. Everything is decided by Time. He feels that so long as goodness prevails on earth, his works will be read at random pick-up and choice. That is sufficient for him.
