Biography
I have been writing poetry since I was a young girl, which has matured over the years into a unique experience in my life. From the age of 15, I was filled with the passion of writing, and had a wonderful and unique teacher in English named, Faith. She inspired me and captivated my attention to continue writing poetry. She would ask me why I wrote about such sad thoughts, and my answer to her was that I was inspired to write when I was depressed and feeling sad. In grade seven, when attending Faith's class, another English teacher picked me up and swept me out of Faith's class into another group teaching Shakespeare. For whatever reason, I was not interested or captured by Shakespeare's writings. My mother tried to reason with this teacher and told him to put me back into Faith's class of creative poetry writing. Much to my dismay, I had to remain in the class learning Shakespeare. I completely ignored my poetry, and still not interested in learning Shakespeare, I just kind of closed up into a shell as far as poetry goes. Then at about the age of 18, I became inspired again, and began writing. Still, I would mostly write about the dark side of life. At the age of 18, I also began playing guitar and singing, doing some back-up work for musical artists, I always found myself to be shy and never wanting the lime light, so I would just help out musicians doing some back-up vocals in rehearsals. I fashioned my music after people like Joni Mitchell, Carol King and Carly Simon. At the age of 26, I moved to San Francisco, California. After living there for about three months, a man I had met heard me singing, and told me to audition for the San Francisco Bach choir. I told him that I didn't think I qualified, but he pushed me into going for an audition. Much to my surprise, I was asked to join the choir. I arrived the first day full of inspiration but also feeling very nervous. I didn't realize that the songs would be sung in German and Italian. I felt so out of place that I decided not to return. I then moved to Santa Monica, California where I fell in love with a wonderful man, who is a well known Flamenco guitarist whom I have been with for 15 years. I have fallen in love with Flamenco music and love to listen to my boyfriend's Cds. I have found myself getting more and more involved in writing as the years go by. I write about love, happiness, dreams, sadness, despair, fear, depression, and being an adamant animal rights activist and vegetarian. Through this journey, I have captured my inner self and now will share my life's mysteries with you, the reader. I will share my passions and disappointments of life along the roads I have traveled.
