Remembrance Day's Red Poppies
I see red poppies pass me by
On winter coats and hats,
On sleeves and pinned securely
Against November winds
That blow across our cities, towns,
Our countrysides and vales,
Down from our mountain peaks and hills
Into rememberings
Of yesteryears by soldiers who
Remain to tell of hells they faced.
Those poppies I see going by
Don't sway in Flanders fields
But worn are, each year when time
Brings on "Remembrance Day"
Throughout our cities and our towns,
Throughout our villages and homes,
When wreaths are laid to honor those
Who sacrificed their lives
That we may wear a poppy, red,
To remember them.
