A little more information on the awards given out at the end of the season. Several awards were given out. Most valuable player. It was exciting to see one of his best friends M Jones get the honor. Jones was a star on both offense and defense. Like Brent without the number of carries he averaged much higher than the promoted running back. His name was called often on tackles and runbacks of punts. The most improved player was his friend Blaze. I didn't think he was improved when given a chance to play he excelled. The offensive player of the year was given to the number one ball carrier. DEserving 70 percent of the offense plays went through him. Brent sat and on the wall above the coaches was his jersey blinking. He wondered why all the acculates were going elsewhere. Then came the big announcement. The coaches choice for player of the year. The coach was saying, "This year we have two--it was a hard decision to make and so we are giving two. But the first one and what a surprise goes to a boy who is most deserving as a player who promotes what Woodinville football is about--- Brent Donlan."
A month ago I had gone to the school. I was there to pick up his younger brother to take him to Canada to play hockey. My exact thoughts, his sisters picture hanging on the wall. The Woodinville volleyball team finishing in the top ten in state first time ever and her most inspirational player. Ryan two years ago had been STate champion in hockey. I was looking in the case at the Player of the year trophy and the player names on it. One who played professional football and several for pac twelve teams. My thought, "Poor Brent. If they would only let him play and pass to him or let him carry the ball his name would be on this trophy. Flash back to last night. He is holding the trophy and this year his name is engraved on it. Coaches choice as player of the year./dandy
