Thank you Monique, Janet, Terry, Ellie, George, Robert, Kris, Kathy, Sandy and Doris for all you prayers for Ronnie. He is back in the hospital after almost dying yesterday from an overdose of medication. He is under the care of about five different specialists for his condition, which is diagnosed as bone marrow cancer. In addition, he undergoes dialysis treatments three times every week. Apparently, there was not one doctor who coordinated everything and, from what I conclude, Ronnie helped himself to extra pain medication when he felt he needed it. The hospital is quite a distance from my home and yesterday I drove most of the way there to a shopping center which is not far from the hospital and took a cab the rest of the way. Miracle of miracles, the cab driver told me that he is a priest -- and when I told him that I am Jewish but my son converted to Catholicism, we said "The Lord is My Shepherd" and we both said Hebrew prayers (This wonderful man had studied Hebrew too). Ronnie had to be detoxified, and doctors removed all of his pain medication, including Oxycodine (forgive the spelling). Ronnie was in such pain and so uncomfortable until one doctor, who hopefully will coordinate all of his medications, prescribed Methadone. After about 10 minutes the Methadone kicked in, the pain was relieved and Ronnie was himself again. In addition, a priest finally came to see him at the hospital yesterday and I called my rabbi who prayed for Ronnie. Ronnie will be returning to his basement apartment (15 steps down) but I'm trying to get him and Karen to move to my garden apartment development where he can just step outside to a terrace and not worry about steps that he can't manage. I can be there to help him with anything that he needs when Karen is at work. Again, may God bless all my wonderful poetry friends. I love you. Annette
