NEWS: April 6th, 2009 Wow! It has been almost exactly four years since my last update. The poetic drought I spoke of in my last news update did indeed last quite a while longer than I had expected it would. Well, to quote the title of my latest addition to this site, "I Don't Give A [Poop]." (Keep in mind that this place censors things, so replace [poop] with a 4 letter expletive which rhymes with 'bit' please.) It has been a challenging four years. I left the last incarnation of my band in January 2006 because I was very depressed and artistically dead, and I felt like I was weighing them down and I had no desire to create or play music at the time (or do just about anything else for that matter). The one person in this world whom I was the closest to, my dad, passed away in 2007, and I ended up surviving most of the year living alone in a different state, at least a hundred miles away from anyone I knew, broke and very depressed. In 2008 I moved to Virginia with a longtime friend of mine (the fellow whom I went on my road trip in 2003 with), and things have been getting better ever since. 2008 may have been the best year of my adult life. I have a lot of work to do in 2009 to clean up the messes which were created through the years of surviving a bad living situation and being quite depressed. I am confident that I can do what I need to do to take care of these matters, and optimistic that I will be able to stay positive through it all. I am not too confident that my poetic drought will finally see it's end this year, but I am hopeful. 'Don't Give A [Poop]' I imagine as a song with a sort of jazz lounge feel to it, sung with gusto. April 14th, 2005 'Positivity' is my newest addition to my little poetry site. Unfortunately since I last updated over a year ago, I have not had a creative burst of poetry as I was thinking might happen. I've been extremely dry on poetry for the last year and it seems the drought may last a while longer. Positivity is part two of two poems I wrote in the same night, the other one is called Negativity. I like Negativity better and I can definitely see it becoming a song someday which is part of the reason I am not posting it on here. I am still a little paranoid about people stealing my work. Negativity and Positivity were inspired by an ongoing debate with my friend/band's drummer at the time about my lyrics being too negative. They were also inspired by Roger Taylor's Happiness? album. January 30th, 2004 'My Mind' is the newest addition this time. It's a short one, but I've always liked it. It's an old one too, I wrote this one way back in '98! That was the first year that I seriously took to writing poetry. I wrote a lot of poems that year, though I have deemed only a very few of them good enough for display. These days my writing habits have changed and I write very few but they are usually pretty decent. I've been very dry on poetry lately, I have precious little time to let my artistic side come out. A terrible shame that is! I have so much in me I feel I'll have a creative burst at any time, but it hasn't come yet... September, 2003 'Travel' is my newest addition to this site. I wrote it while staying at the Point Loma hostel in San Diego, California. This summer I went on a road trip with a friend and we went from Delaware to Tijuana, Mexico to Washington state and back. About three fourths through the trip we were in San Diego, we had been staying at the hostel in downtown for a few days then stayed at Point Loma one night. I was so worn out from all my adventures while staying downtown that I decided to take a day off and just write in my travel journal and relax. I saw this large notebook they had there where the hostel guests would write a great number of things in. After reading several things others had wrote and reading a bit from a Walt Whitman book they had there, I felt inspired to make a poetic story of our travels. I then thought it only fitting to write that poem in their guest book and now I think the poem is good enough to put on my site too. In this poem I think J.R.R. Tolkein might also have had some influence on me. I recently reread The Lord of the Rings and some connections could be made as far as style goes. The poem itself gives a good brief account of my adventures on my trip up until we got to San Diego, yet it hardly does the trip justice. Hope you enjoy!

ABOUT: Most of my poems are meant to be song lyrics, but in most instances I never made them into songs, and in all instances, the music never was performed or professionally recorded.  I mostly wrote in my teens and early twenties.  I am now middle aged and hardly write poetry anymore.  The picture is old, the poems are old, and this site hasn't been updated in years.  Life is too short for all of the things I enjoy doing and would like to do.
