NEWS: I think that it is only appropriate to tell you about the inspiration behind the first poem I ever wrote, "My Father's Garden" It is dedicated to my father who was a landscape gardener. Petunias were one of his favorite flowers and even though we lived in the humid midwest, my father preferred to sit outside at night under a tree. He spent most of his career tending grounds for some of the Catholic institutions in our hometown. He was always willing to give a job to someone who needed money, and even give them a place to live. His final job was at the cemetery and he cared for the graves of people buried a hundred years ago the same way as he did for the person buried yesterday. He use to like to sit at the cemetery, and when driving through the grounds, he would often stop, get out of his truck, and tend a grave that needed sticks picked up, ground smoothed, or just say a silent prayer for the person.

ABOUT: I started writing poetry during a very spiritual time in my life. It flowed from me as water from a dam, truly God inspired. Though it was been several years since I have consistently written anything, God has been working in a different area of my life. In 2007 I moved from a city I loved to a city I didn't to help my son whose wife was dying from stage four liver cancer. My marriage was breaking up at the time, I felt alone in a strange city and very unloved. I finally came to peace with the breakup of my marriage, dealing with loss for myself, my son and my grandsons and was about to file for divorce when my husband died unexpectedly. We were friends at the time of his death, so the blow was both saddening and shocking. I felt as though I had no one to talk to or comfort me, as we were still dealing with my daughter in laws slow demise. But God had plans in the midst of all this chaos. He sent to me the most wonderfully kind and gentle man. Long story short, we were married April 17, 2010 and I now have more family to love. God is truly amazing how He lifts you out of despair.
