I started writing poetry approximately 10 years ago. My first poem was written as I was standing on some grass surrounded by trees. I could see traffic on the freeway through a fence. At that time I thought about the grass, the trees, the moment I was in. I noted my thoughts down and wrote my first poem. Encouraged by my family and friends, I continued writing and it was a blessing for me that I did. It helped me to deal with the past and the negative aspects associated with my past life. There were good times too, but its the bad times that affect us most. It is our past mistakes that we must deal with in order to put behind us and move on. Through poetry, faith, and the support of family, I have renewed myself and let go the negative energy that was my past. It was a great release for me; A form of therapy that helped me better understand myself and life in general.
