The Quiet City
The earth begins to rumble
The walls begin to shake
My heart beats faster
Not another quake?
What do I do?
Do I stay inside?
Do I run out the door?
There's nowhere to hide.
Bricks falling around me
People running scared
Has everyone survived
How have they faired
The rumble ceases
My heart beats fast
But now another one
How long will this last.
I venture outside
It's like world war three
There's a man in a car
A sight I don't want to see.
The city is a quiet place
A sad place to be alive
Why am I still here
When others did not survive?
Sleep with the angels
We will remember your love
Be at peace with the world
Keep watch from above.
