smallsteps
ramblings and things

Whiskey The Cat

Heís cheerful and friendly
Courteous and polite
In all honesty he brings us
So much joy and delight.
Heís so self effacing l
Tries not to intrude
And perish the thought
He could ever be rude,

But, Whiskey the Catís
From a broken home,
Nothing to do but
Wander and roam.
His humanís new lover
Just doesnít want a cat
So heís kept outside
And thatís the end of that.

They put food by the door.
Just twice a day
I think they are hoping
Heíll just go away.
But, heís surviving
Although heís living rough
A quiet cat of spirit
Confident and tough.

Heís matted and scruffy
But he doesnít seem to care
So long as he can spend
Time in our patio chair.
He greets us each morning
With a cheerful little purr
As if just to check its ok
For him still to sleep there.

Heís a philosophical sort
Is young Whiskey the Cat
Accepts his lot and seems
Quite happy with that.
Heís an example to us all
For he doesnít have a lot
But Whiskey the Cat seems so
Content with the little heís got.
