Education is Important
I know what I want to know.
Yet, I feel that I don't know anything.
I am born into a family that begins
to teach me: values, positive regard.
And then my school system.
I don't want to approach all the problems
schools have: discipline, weapons, apathy,
poor study habits.
Unfortunately,
it is these troubles
that are passed onto the next generation.
I, as a student, experience
this enormous burden left for me.
Suffer?
I want to learn.
To know is to understand.
Understanding will bring
a pleasant, livable society.
I have to study to see the future.
The future may not be there.
My goals are lost in all the confusion.
Crime, poverty, violence, inequity.
These realities are educating me, too.
It's hard to make it all wothwhile.
