I'd rather inspire
Those who once
Looked down
Upon me
Than rub their
Nose into
The dirt
To prove
My worth.
Greatness
For me is in
Helping others up
And out
Than placing them
Down and out.
I can't join in
The conversation
Because the others
Are reveling in
Their own greatness
Over others,
And find
It satisfying
And funny.
So I'll quietly
Write,
My prayer
To their higher
Selves…
May you one day
Find that it's too easy
To fall off the ledge
When looking down
On others,
And that when your
Hand is held out
For those
Who have fallen,
It is much less likely
That you too will fall.
