Have a Nice Life, Daddy,

What are the values we want?
We hurt each other with too much abstraction.
Children are born,
born with love.
God is love.
Jesus loves you.
A brutal beating in Chicago
has just made the news.
"My daddy is a good man," a boy says.
Now I am here.  Now I am gone.
A teenage boy brings a rifle to school.
To shoot.
To aim at some students, some teachers.
Do you detect values in that brainstorm?
People are playing at lies,
playing with lives.
I have humble answers.
I was killed in a schoolyard shooting.
I am born from a bullet  that killed me.
I am here to express hope.
As I say, I am humble.
What else would I be doing in that school?
I liked math and science.
I loved baseball.
I loved the pool.
I had thoughts of being a teacher.
My friends are gone now.
Friends who wouldn't shoot me.
Obviously.
I was to be a future,
but now I am not.
Aren't people such awful things?
Why?  Why?
I have a full life to lead.
Have a nice life, daddy.
