A Babe on Christmas Eve #381

A Babe on Christmas Eve
“Who ask, in His name,
for sustenance should not be turned away,
especially, upon this eve,
this eve of Christmas day,”
I thought within my heart
as I slowly walked His way
and placed a penny in His pouch,
a pouch so worn and grey,
where lingered I for near a sigh,
a sigh of mere dismay,
when, given for my penny,
the sacrifice was made
for, all in all, it took my all,
I gave without delay
my penny, life, my sustenance
to Him, for Him was laid
where, in return, gave, though not earned,
He more than what I paid,
He more than what I paid,
especially, upon this eve,
this eve of Christmas day
when He, a Babe came to the world
and took my sins away!
