Poems of Lighthouse Bob

The Vagrant Lighthouse (Ballade) #458

The Vagrant Lighthouse

The lighthouse ravaged on the shore
Does vanish in the ocean's spray
Where rustic hinges on the floor
Reveal the broken hearted stray
That once was noble in its day
But now's a recluse, boarded shrine
That fallen stair lain bare displays
No more the battered light will shine.

Yet, deep inside the heart, the core
A sure and steady surge does stay
The lighthouse on the verge of lore
When, in renewal's glow, a way
Does intervene, does make obey
What forces God and time define,
Wherein, the worthy and the raised,
No more the battered, light will shine.

The light within, on high, does pour
Across the seascape of the bay
So bold it's like a lion's roar
To warn the wayward, gone astray
That here the dormant and decayed
Will not be banished or recline
In solitude or in dismay
No more – The battered light will shine!

The lighthouse reminisced conveys
That fortitude and strength combined
Will never dim in disarray –
No! More, the battered light will shine!
