Selah
This Hebrew word usually left not translated in the Word,
Drawing attention to the words that you have just heard.
Pause, and listen; the Psalms' unique exclamation point;
Allowing God's Word to sink in to your soul and anoint.
I have learned from this word the benefits of a thoughtful pause;
Allowing the power of God to expose my many flaws.
Creating within my soul the spirit that is pliable like clay;
Drawing me to my destiny, no longer seeking what is my way.
Patient reading and meditation on the Word does create;
As Selah reminds me to not rush ahead, but on God to wait.
No longer caught up in our instant world of drive through's;
It is with patience in my hungry soul I hear the Good News.
Building on a firm foundation dug deep into the Rock;
Able to respond at all times, whenever there is a knock.
Time is suspended, God rules the heavens and the earth;
Slow down, seek God's wisdom; more than gold this is worth.
