Within the Balance - part VI

Photobucket
the battle had begun with both sides facing the onslaught of the others
fighting through the night and the next day the demons tried to tip the scales
but the good magical beings held their own fairies and elves side by side
life must have its equal to remain within the balance

only when the numbers and power balanced would the struggle stop
a cry went out and then another each time one of hers fell she cried silently
they were her children she cared for them all only then did her resolve increase
life must have its equal to remain within the balance

the horror laughed at the wins but roared when retaliations were successful
he goaded his minions onward not caring if they fell or not he only wanted to win
sensing the lack of a tactical mind the good lady told the changeling of her plan
life must have its equal to remain within the balance

the plan was wild the chances high but with much thought the changeling agreed
secretly finding his way to the other side he made his change into the wolf
only his battle was with the unwary the ones who failed to see him for what he was
life must have its equal to remain within the balance

the scale was about to be balanced within the very realm for on this night a good fairy
was giving birth to another child one who possesed magical powers beyond them all
the birth of a child of equal powers had brought the balance together the battle ceased
life must have its equal to remain within the balance

once more stability was brought together the two sides retreated into their separate ways
each had their own domain their own lives there would always be the minor clashes of wills
but the power to hold them off would be strong till the next time the balance shifted either way
life must have its equal to remain within the balance
