Stranger in a Strange Land
Coming to myself one day, seeing the alien surroundings;
The assaults on my senses, the overwhelming oppression.
I run to the high mountains to hide, desiring to escape;
Trying to find the answer to why I'm in this strange land.
I hide my face the lap of my father, he allows me to rest;
But soon he sends me out into this world as a stranger.
“You are only in this world, you are not of this world;
You will be an ambassador, a stranger in a strange land.”
“Love will be the staff of your protection,
Peace will cover your feet as your shoes.
Faith will be your compass and your map;
Hope will be your helmet while you wander.”
I had a tear in my eye, looking into my father's eyes;
I shuffle out of his sight, down the path into this world.
Exploring this new land with the heart of a sojourner;
I am now an ambassador, a stranger in a strange land.
