 The Perfect Storm
All the forces of nature conspire against me;
The ship of my life is tossed by the high sea.
The world's four corners bring on their worst;
At first, I believe that my life has been cursed.
Waters pouring in over the side of my vessel;
With hope and faith I do most honestly wrestle.
Why, Oh God, do you allow this hardship?
Will I stay upright in this storm, or will this boat flip?
I pour out my heart, my fear, and my anger to God;
This perfect storm has stripped me of my calm facade.
Waves come rushing across my decks with powerful fury;
Rescue me! Save me! Oh my God, and do it in a hurry!
I find the life jacket inside, and strap it onto my chest;
Snugging it up tight, but still feeling ill equipped, at best.
Suddenly, a calm comes sweeping over the high sea;
The perfect storm has passed; God has set me free.
I thought in this moment of calmness about life's test;
Now seeing Jesus Christ in the orange life vest.
I am reluctant to remove this jacket, it's power is real;
This day has changed my life, on my knees I now kneel.
