In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth......
In the beginning there was the vast darkness
a great void of emptiness lay everywhere.
The great Builder was displeased with this
therein He created the universe, earth, and air.
When He finished He gazed at His creation
and He smiled at His creation for it was good
Here were the heavens, planets, and stars
the moon and earth, the mountains and wood.
Yet still He was not content with this.
He felt alone and longed for so much more.
So He shaped and formed lakes and hills.
He molded all creatures from the earth's core.
On the sixth day the Lord God our Creator
with air from His lungs and the earth's crust
formed a man in His own omnipotent image
and with that first man God shared His trust.
On the seventh day the Lord being satisfied
for He had wrought great beauty with His power
rested and declared the day to be a Holy day.
He watched Adam grow and flourish like a flower.
