Poetic Verses

Jim Morrison

I recall so many years ago
Being spellbound by your work
It seemed I hung on every word
And sensed how much you hurt.

Yes, hurt because so many buffs
Just did not understand
The things you had the nerve to say
While singing with the band.

But was it their indifference
That caused your slow demise
Or reckless self-indulgences
Which proved to be unwise?

Either way, I tend to see you as
A true one-of-a-kind
The writer and great poet who
Had such a brilliant mind.

Most things so hard to reconcile
Good sense sometimes ignores
But I will not forget you, Jim
The leader of The Doors.
