Poetic Verses
Ignorance
It was hardly brilliance on my part
That made me lose your trust
But more a state of ignorance
For which I feel disgust.
Good sense did not convince me
The times I went astray
That striving for those carnal things
Would make me sad someday.
Now, looking back, one thing is clear
I made a fool of me
Because I chose to turn my back
On true reality.
But life proved the best teacher
And I was sorely taught
That ignorance is no excuse
When worldliness is sought.
That made me lose your trust
But more a state of ignorance
For which I feel disgust.
Good sense did not convince me
The times I went astray
That striving for those carnal things
Would make me sad someday.
Now, looking back, one thing is clear
I made a fool of me
Because I chose to turn my back
On true reality.
But life proved the best teacher
And I was sorely taught
That ignorance is no excuse
When worldliness is sought.
