Poetic Verses
Friends
These days I am a loner
So few do I now trust
Because of those who would deceive
While claiming to be just.
And when they are most needed
No helping hand they lend
But quickly make the argument
That I am such a friend.
They live in their glass houses
As most will sometimes do
Yet, must be first to cast a stone
Give Lucifer his due.
They pretend at being loyal
And with grand words atone
Then wonder why it is that I
Would rather be alone.
So few do I now trust
Because of those who would deceive
While claiming to be just.
And when they are most needed
No helping hand they lend
But quickly make the argument
That I am such a friend.
They live in their glass houses
As most will sometimes do
Yet, must be first to cast a stone
Give Lucifer his due.
They pretend at being loyal
And with grand words atone
Then wonder why it is that I
Would rather be alone.
