It`s Diwali and you celebrate it today
All my best wishes to you I convey,
You celebrate the Festival of Lights
I hope your day holds many delights.
In contrast to your celebration I am sad
For 26 years ago I lost the best friend I had,
My Mum died which left a big hole in my life
Today the pain still cuts me like a knife.
So your Diwali has fallen on this date
My tears will flow and then they`ll abate,
I wish joy, peace and light to you all
While happy memories I try to recall.
To all Hindus celebrating this great day
Thinking of you could help me in some way,
I will rejoice in the time Mum and I had
And for those treasured times I will be glad.
I wish you a happy Diwali from me to you
I hope there is fun and laughter I really do,
Two different occasions are on the same day
I`ll smile for you and keep my tears at bay.
