Peace and War...Peace and war, war and peace, Will it ever end, will it ever cease? It seems that's not so, seems we'll always war I can't understand it, what's it all for? We sit at home while we worry and fret, Not knowing what our kin have met? Have they seen the enemy eye to eye? Will they see worse, people who die? How do we deal with the worry we bear, And how are the folks for whom we all care? What will happen now, now they are at war? We have thoughts in our head as we pace the floor. We sit here at home, tears in our eye Quietly praying that our loved ones don't die! We try and try and try in vain… To keep things light and lessen our pain! But pain is the foremost in our heart, Broken and sad as our kin depart! Sent to the war zone, determined and brave, The ultimate goal, the counties to save! But how do they feel sent out to fight? Are the prepared, are they scared at night? How will they deal with the sights they will see? It hurts they're not home where they should be! All we can do now, is think positive and pray, That this will cease soon, and we see a new day! A new world of peace is all that we ask for all, Will anyone listen when it's for peace we all call? What do we do sitting here in our home? Feeling so scared and so very alone! We are left behind no information to release, Please end this suffering, let's live in peace! For all the lasses and lads in the forces! ©Catherine Inglesby 2003 Poetry Ad-Free Upgrades Vote for this poem |
