 She

She gave a glow and warmth,
Like a cosy fire burning,
In a homely cottage
With snow outside on the moors.
Yet Inside you're snug and safe.

She filled you like a jug of wine,
Always keeping your glass full,
Enriching you with a rich fruity
Full bodied feeling.
Empowered by mirth.

She was the face everyone knew,
Making you smile
Stopping in the street to chat,
Idle gossip, but always
Proud of her boys.

She was as wise as Yoda ,
And as compassionate as
Florence nightingale.
Tending her gallant brave soldiers,
Back from societies Wars.

She was our mum,
Wife and sister,
Daughter
And grandmother,
In heaven.

poem from my forthcoming book, 'The Unfairness Of Angels' out early 2010
