Goodnight x

A poem for my late Grandad Taylor, 1/1/1941-16/10/2009. Read at his funeral on 28/10/09 same date as his
late wife's (Ethel Taylor) 3rd anniversary. May they both RIP xxx

A cottage was built high in the sky,
but Nana was no good ad DIY
so she sent a letter and said first things first,
then she sent a request down to earth.

Someone was needed so the angels came,
a taxi arrived and Derek was the name,
he hopped in the back and away they flew,
No chance for goodbye's or to say 'We'll miss you'

he landed in heaven and took his place at her side,
now they watch us together and wish we wouldn't cry
for all he ever wanted came true on that day
he packed his bags and passed peacefully away.

now they are reunited and are watching us grieve,
we know the reason he had to leave,
and as we lay him down to sleep,
precious memories are what we keep.

Photographs are something we have to treasure,
they are eternal and last forever,
back with auntie Norma, Uncle Les and the rest,
We have an army of angels keeping us as our best.

close your eyes and rest your head,
sleep peacefully in your eternal bed,
til the day comes when we re unite,
until then grandad, god bless and goodnight.

love Vicki and Gracie (Emily Grace, but 4 u..) xxx
