I Should Have Stayed

I should have stayed there with you
You fought so hard for me
You are the only man in my life
Who ever thought about my well being

I think about it all the time
If only I would have stayed
And so now every night
I get on my knees, bow my head, and pray

I dont know whats wrong with me
Why I won't let you in
But I know that I can't let you go
I can't let what we have end

So many years of happiness
Of growing every day together
I knew with me and you
We could make it forever

I should have fought as hard as you
I have made a difficult situation for us
But no matter what I do
I know I can't let go of our love

You took me away with you
To show me what was right
You fought with all you had
To get us back to "our" life

Instead of seeing how happy we could be
I ingnored your love for me
I put up a wall to you
And now I'm to blame for being so unhappy

I should have stayed with you
But I gave into a man I didn't know
A man I'm not sure I could ever love
I regret every day that I let you go

I did you wrong so many times
I never even understood why
When I knew in my heart
That you were the only guy in my life

Please know that I love you
No man could ever take your place
You are and always will be my future
That's a thought I could not ever erase

I should have stayed there with you
I should have fought like you fought for me
Now I am living with regret
With a man who will not ever make me happy
