The Leaves of Summer die

Winds now getting colder
winters eve is here
squirrels collecting bounty
in forests run with deer
summer sun so gracious
for autumn rains too feed
the life that grows beneath us
from springtime's early seed.
Soon winters snow a blanket
feeling all brand new
like bare trees stripped of cover
though beauty be their view
the setting sun now early
as the sunsets in my eyes
the winter sun now beautiful
as the leaves of summer die.
