Photobucket
walking slowly admiring the view i notice a lone child
he stands at the waters edge staring out across the lake
so forlorn so alone so sad my heart reaches out to him
sometimes strangers in our midst call out to us

waiting for the bus i noticed a young pretty girl all alone
sitting on the bench with tears streaming down her face
she turned looked at me with such sadness in her eyes

i took a stroll through the park to enjoy the warm fall day
an old woman slowly walked past me eyes cast down
i turned to watch her noticing the painful stoop of her back

how many times do we see such lonely people along our way
sadness following them as they go we pass without notice
dilemmas shadowing their existence never any relief every day

it is these moments i feel at such a loss not knowing what to say
lost in my own world with my own concerns never seeing others
is there nothing i can do to forget my own problems to ease theirs
sometimes strangers in our midst call out to us
