This write may bring maybe to tears
Someone whose lost to death we fear
Loved ones, dear friends, unsaid goodbyes
Still haunting soul in them that cries
Death tragic will rear its head
In pictures kept next to ones bed
For good is all one sees of them
Who left too soon, when life does end
In their loss the past keeps tabs
Inside of you wishing you had
Another day, more time you'd spend
To hug and kiss much more of them
The innocence of laughter lost
Today still heard, too high a cost
You pay each day, yet pay you do
With pain you wake and sleep with too
Death takes no prisoners but will make one
Feel wish you were with that someone
Who left behind more than their past
You their loss shattered like glass
Survive you do mourning at times
This act of life more like a crime
Witnessed when gone are they who shared
The best of you ripped out and teared
Breathe deep today as life goes on
Carry the weight as if baton
You twirl today in some parade
Acting out life, your own charade
To my friend Lee whose losses in life compelled us to write this one for him.
