Cry of the Loon

Photobucket
i sit here at the table looking out the bay window at the lake
it is quiet and peaceful for this weary mind sun creeping low
i hear the night creatures as they creep out to the world
the cry of the loon is heard off into the distance

i listen to a solitary wolf greeting the moon as it slowly rises
a lone owl hoots from trees outside my window a soft sound
i watch a moose swim across the lake towards my island
the cry of the loon is heard off into the distance

there is a magical presence all around me peace and serenity
hearing the lone loons haunting call somewhere on the lake
i wonder does it call to its mate is it a warning cry or a greeting
the cry of the loon is heard off into the distance

im alone on my lakes island alone and at peace my solitude
there are no worries here no cares the world has faded away
my mind is healing from the pains of life amongst natures call
the cry of the loon is heard off into the distance
