Promise Me
Where I go you cannot come
At least for now, beloved son
Though far unssen the road I take
One day you will if walked in faith
There will be joy where I go to
Though sorrow breaks you heart mine too
As time I let elude for years
Since last we spoke, this last I fear
Your tears may rain today on me
Upon my face carressed dearly
This sleep that has become my last
Will leave behind what did amass
Great fortunes not of coin
Nor of paper but of my loin
You who grew to be the man
Without father who lived life damned
Your presence here today we see
From skies above, brings us much glee
To think you loved and still love me
From where we stand this too we see
I'm sorry for the wrong I've done
To you, family and too your son
Regret we do not having spent
More time in life that came and went
Promise me you will not do
The same as I to son yours too
For in the end as is today
Your sons head too upon you lay
Wish I could but waste we did
What would become my lasts breaths bid
To have another day with you
To tell how much we loved you too
Please keep for me whats left behind
Grandson we leave who too seeks time
To spend with dad unlike grandfather
Who came to be somewhat your father
For in the end one cannot take
What could have been what one forsakes
More time, more hugs and talks with you
Dear son of mine, promise me too
