 A World Full of Chickens
It just gets under my skin
Like fingernails scrapping
At the plastic packaging
And never finding the edge
To get a hold of…
When something I say
Or Something I do
Gets to you…
And you don't say
S__t about it…

How the heck
Are people supposed to learn?
How fair is it
That everyone around us
Is supposed to be psychic enough
To know you were hurt
By what was said?

Oh I'm sorry
I am saying YOU!
Rather than “us”
Or “we” so you don't
Feel singled out.
Tough shit…
Someone needs to
Have to guts to tell you.

Everyone's so intimidated
By hurting someone's feelings
We've turned into a bunch
Of chicken s___s.
We're all so polite
We're miserable,
Thinking that we're
Making everyone feel
Better by not saying

He's sarcastic which means
He like you
You're hurt by what he said
But you'll never tell him…
And it's because he's to chicken
To say he likes you
And you'll never know
Because you're mad
he disrespected you
and he'll never know
because your to chicken
to confront him…
and we wonder
why so
many relationships

Avoidance of uncomfortably
Has become
The preferred
The way
For those
Who live with a personal
Perception that the world
Is full of porcupines,
When the reality
Is the world
Is full of chickens.
