The Shepherd guides me through this troubled world,
Not as a soldier with battle flag unfurled,
But one who leads me oh so patiently,
Caring, he provides my needs constantly.
The Shepherd knows when I need my rest,
Leads me to those quiet places he knows best,
Provides refreshing water for my dry soul,
Refreshed, I continue, restored and whole.
I cannot see the Good Shepherd's face,
He is in heaven, I'm in this worldly place,
Yet I hear His voice as though just up ahead
When I stop and pray with Scriptures read.
Even when walking steep storm swept paths,
His Spirit comforts as fear's sword swathes.
When darkest of shadows seem to block my way,
His protection is assuring, day after day.
With His staff He gently lifts my head,
Points past those fears I constantly dread,
Gives a glimpse of His Glory and Power,
Encouragement for life's transitional hour;
That day when I will see His glorious face,
Worship Him, singing of His glory and grace,
Enjoying Heaven's great banquet feast,
Honouring the Great Shepherd's salvation and peace.

Psalm 23
The Lord is my shepherd,
I have everything I need.
He lets me rest in green meadows,
He leads me beside peaceful waters,
He renews my strength.
He guides me along right paths,
bringing honour to His name.
Even when I walk
Through the dark valley of death,
I will not be afraid,
For you are close beside me.
Your rod and your staff,
They comfort me.
You prepare a feast for me
In the presence of my enemies,
You welcome me as a guest,
Anointing my head with oil.
My cup overflows with blessings.
Surely your goodness and unfailing love will follow me,
All the days of my life,
And I will live in the house of the Lord forever.
