Climb the highest mountain, punch the face of god

A skeleton in my garden

The lilacs all bowed,
Drooping towards the ground
As skeletons clamored by.
The hint of lavendar
Was replaced by the stench
Of a rotting heart.
Suddenly, there is no
More color in the world.
Several years later, it's
Still gray.
Upon a grave of our fallen
Promises, I leave the treasury
Of my threat to give up life
When it got too hard.
I explored and played around
With ways to turn this
Trickster into a fortune,
To turn the dragon
Into a butterfly but in the end,
All I got was
A heart as holey as
Swiss cheese.
I became his messenger
And then his weekly good deed
And I gave up.
I followed my cobwebbed
Footsteps back home,
My sight distorted.
I dare myself to
Regain my strength and
Build a fortress around
My feelings and pass
On the idea of love.
So bitter, to know
That love holds no beauty, only ugly.
