Growing up poor I was never begging
As a child I was the immigrant worker
All day for two dollar pick strawberries
Then it was beans and peas
Not to proud to start on my knees
Mom she put in a ten hour day
Sometimes dad would pass by our way
Ten I was cleaning office space
Oh the fond memories I trace
My first real job I was setting pins
Seeing that ball coming chills begins
Then I was a teenage caddy
spotting balls for someones rich daddy
One day after high school I was working at Boeing
No one could tell me my work was boring
But that was when the call came--country needed me
I was a emergency Air force medic you see
I sweep flower from one end to the other
From the ceiling flower fell to smother
Causal labor I unloaded Hugh trucks
Don't tell me you can't find jobs live sucks
Times are tough finding work once again
Lets get this country together on the mends
I was too proud to ask for someone to give me money
You can sell picked blackberries door to door honey
I is time to get this country back to work
Send the illegals home that's a first perk
