In the cup of my hand there's a diamond
Worth nothing but its weight in gold
A diamond that you gave to me long ago
Promising love till we both grew old
That diamonds been upon my finger
Where you placed it so long ago
But today its cupped inside my hand
For today was when you left to go
I watched as you dressed in your attire
Not looking me once in the eyes
I knew in my heart you were leaving
Because for months you had lived but a lie
In your heart there was another
Someone who had taken my place
I watched you as you put on your hat
And walked slowly away from this place
I knew in my heart you were leaving
It was the hurt of the no goodbyes
Why was it me that had to suffer
The humiliation and all your lies
This ring had no place upon my finger
I squeezed it as tight has i could
And slowly i flushed it away down the pan
Because to me water was not thicker than blood
I wish you well with your new life
Your going to need it, that's for sure
In the future i shall reach to the top
You did me a favor when you closed my door
