Once Id Have Picked The Flowers

There was a time back aways of mine
Id often spend some hours
Walking through the natural fields
And once Id have picked the flowers
But time goes on and sings its song
We mellow due to heartache and leassons learned
And walk a little more carefully as we go
Quietly remembering once candles that have burned
Seeing life more clearly now as we wonder on
With compassion and a way gentler soul
We now knowing things we never knew before
Walk slowly on and not quiet as once so bold
Full of love within still for life that be
And now treasuring every day and all its hours
One wonders through lifes gardens grand
But now reluctant some to pick the flowers
A new year is upon us all and its change
Like a beautiful dawn thats about to be
And as one waits at the new year gates
One feels sad but hopes it sets one free
And slowly carefully through this coming year
Appreciating more each day and all its hours
One may walk through lifes gardens ever grand
But a little reluctant to as once to pick the flowers
